How Do Paternity Tests Work?

As your attorneys, we will make sure you clearly understand your rights. If you choose to have a paternity test, you will find that it is simple and painless. The test is used to evaluate your DNA by scrapping a few skin cells from your cheek, and the child's.

To officially acknowledge paternity, the father must sign the Voluntary Acknowledgment of Paternity form, which will be placed on the child's birth certificate. Once the man signs this, he only has 60 days to rescind, if he has any doubts about being the father.

If you have any questions about your paternity, contact an experienced attorney - after 60 days have passed, you will be locked in as the father and will be expected to pay child support, even if you are not the real father.
