Pennsylvania movie fans might be interested in learning that actor Jeremy Renner is now divorced from his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco. The couple, who had been married for 10 months, share a 2-year-old daughter.
According to court documents, Mr. Renner will pay his ex-wife $13,000 per month in child support, If he makes greater than $2.3 million in a year, he will also pay an additional 5 percent. Mr. Renner will not have to pay Ms. Pacheco any spousal support.
The court documents also indicate that Mr. Renner will keep a majority of his property. Court documents reveal that the actor was nervous that his ex-wife would try to take their daughter out of the country to Canada, where she is from. Instead, the two will share custody of her. Ms. Pacheco filed for divorce in January 2015, and the couple has reportedly had a very nasty battle since then.
Child support depends on several different factors, including the relative incomes of the parents and the amount of time the child will spend with each. Courts use guidelines to help them to determine the appropriate amount to order for payment. Child support is meant to help the child enjoy a similar standard of living to what they would have otherwise enjoyed if their parents had remained together. A person who is owed child support may want to get help from a family law attorney in order to compel payment. A person who is ordered to pay child support and is having trouble making the payments may want to consult with an attorney about whether seeking a modification of the amount is in order.
